Write from experience

Review things you actually went to, booked, rented or bought. Not what you heard, not what you read somewhere else, and not what you assume based on the photos.

Be specific

“Terrible service” helps nobody. “We waited fifty minutes for mains on a quiet Tuesday and nobody checked on us” helps everyone, including the owner. Details are what make a review worth reading — and reviews over 600 characters earn a bonus for exactly that reason.

Disclose any connection

If you work there, own it, are related to the owner, or were given something in exchange for writing, say so in the review. Undisclosed connections are the fastest way to have a review removed and an account suspended.

What we remove

• Reviews written by the business, its staff, or its competitors
• Anything bought, incentivised or traded for
• Personal attacks, harassment, slurs and threats
• Private information — names of junior staff, phone numbers, addresses, photos of people who did not consent
• Content about a legal dispute rather than the experience of being a customer
• Spam, advertising, and links that exist only to promote something
• Reviews of the wrong listing, or complaints about a delivery company aimed at a restaurant

What we do not remove

Negative reviews that are honest, specific and about a real experience stay up. So do reviews the owner disagrees with. Owners are welcome to reply publicly, and a considered reply to a harsh review usually reads better than the review did.

Photos

Upload your own photos only. We strip location data from every image on upload, but do not photograph other customers or staff without asking.

Reporting

Every review has a Report link for signed-in members. Tell us what is wrong and a moderator will look. If something needs urgent attention, use the contact form.

Enforcement

First problems usually get the review removed. Repeated or deliberate abuse — fake reviews, review trading, sockpuppet accounts — gets the account suspended and any points reversed.
